BASICS
-To create a new character of your own simply post a new thread following the provided Bio Form under the New Player board.
-All characters MUST be original (by original I mean made up on this site, so either a character you made or a base character. No characters like Clark Kent ect.) The ONLY exception to this is demons, the demons we are using are based on actual ones from The 72 demons of the lesser key of Solomon.
-Base Characters are characters that hold a needed part in the storyline. Base characters that have not been adopted yet will be role played by the Admin where needed until they are adopted.
-When posting your bio please NO manga/anime/cartoon images for your character bio pictures.
-Please make them realistic, you must have faults and strengths because you cant be good at everything.
-You cannot have superpowers ect. (The only exception is those who are role playing demons or the demonically possessed).
-If you are wanting to play a demon you must adopt an available one from the Adoptions board as they are base characters and cannot be made from scratch.
-Those wishing to play a demon, must read the section on the 72 demons as well as the information below. (It is recommended for all members to view this as well, as the information given give details regarding the demons depicted in this RPG).
-You can have up to four characters, two of them can be stationary characters. Stationary characters are characters that cannot be killed off or possessed unless you say so. Non-stationary characters can be killed off or possessed without warning.
-Everyone must read the Stationary Character Rules and the Non-Stationary Character Rules as this will help things run smoothly.
-Why do we allow animals the be roleplayed? The aspect of viewing something from an animal's view can be intriguing. In Stephen King's Under the dome, he uses the view from a Corgi named Horace occasionally and it gives a delightful change to the aspect of the novel.
RPG CONTENT
-All content must be maintained under a PG-13 level, at first this may sound very limiting for a horror-based RPG site but there are many horror films that are rated PG-13. It may be a little difficult but please try your best to comply as this is not only my ruling but it is in fact in the proboards terms of use agreement.
-You cannot kill another person's character off unless they are Non-stationary, and if you do kill off a character there needs to be a reason for it, you can't just run around killing people for no reason.
-If you are playing a demon or demonic creature, you cannot possess another person's character without permission unless they are non-stationary. (Please see the information listed below as well as the 72 demons section for more details).
-Violence and gore must be kept to a realistic level. Once again this is not to be like a cheesey horror flick in which gallons of blood and gore comes from every wound. In short nothing excessive.
-Posts regarding drugs and alcohol use is only allowed in character and if it is relevant to your character. Absolutely no OOC chat regarding such content is permitted.
-Sexual content is strictly prohibited!
Kissing ect. is fine but no roleplaying of sexual content is allowed, you can suggest or mention in your post that two characters had a sexual encounter but you cannot roleplay the encounter or post details.
-No graphic or inappropriate images.
-Swearing should be kept to a minimal.
-Be friendly to other members, if there is a dispute please contact a member of staff.
-Keep to the storyline! and be realistic, you cannot evade every demonic creature and you certainly cannot kill them all. (In fact as you will find out killing the demons themselves is near impossible).
-There will be times when a staff member will ask for volunteers for characters to be killed off for certain scenes to be played out. (Hey, dying can be fun).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR DEMONIC CHARACTERS
-The demons we are using are based off The 72 demons of the lesser key of Solomon.
-The names of all the demons (with the exception of three) are taken from Johann Weyer's 1563 treatise De Praestigiis Daemonum (On the Illusions of Daemons.)
-Demons appear either invisible or as a very dim shadow to the human eye. Animals however can see them much more vividly.
-Demons cannot dwell inside a dead body for very long, they either need to be in a living body or out and about as just themselves. You can also lay dormant in an object and await a victim (hence object possession).
-Demons do not just run around throwing objects and killing people. Demons, like humans are complex. They have both good and bad qualities and each have a unique way of tricking, trapping and causing harm.
-EX: Furfur is a fallen angel who can be rather aloof, proud and inspirational. He is often depicted as a great stag and in some cultures considered a forest God. He is known to give advice and counselling, and sometimes his advice can cause upheaval and despair to those who follow it. So Furfur can use advice and inspiration to trick victims into doing things.
This being said not ALL demons are solely evil, some can be helpful though most cause torment and suffering in this RPG.
-It is much harder for a demon to harm or kill a human without using a living host to dwell in. This is not because they are weak but because they are a spirit or soul and conducting physical harm can be difficult (depending on how strong the demon is). This is why many demons use alternative methods of causing harm and suffering.
-They can easily do basic things such as move or throw objects etc. but only strong demons can outright attack a living being without using a living host's body to do so.
-If you are dwelling inside a living body and that body dies or is killed (or you kill it) you will need to leave the body quickly because you cannot stay in it for very long once the soul has deceased.
-You can jump from body to body, very useful for if someone kills the body you are currently inhabiting.
-You can only possess one living being or object at a time.
-You do not have "magic" so no shooting balls of flame etc. at people. You can however open doors, throw objects etc.
-Demons may or may not speak with humans, most demons need to use a human body to speak through. Only extremely strong ones can speak on their own.
-Demons are immortal so to speak, they cannot be killed as they are not living. They can however be destroyed. That will be revealed later on in the storyline.
